Pauli's Vision Today
As an architect of social justice, the relevance of Murray's work is felt now more than ever.
"Somehow, I feel that we have a destiny that is beyond our struggle for civil rights and human rights, or social justice, and the consciousness of this destiny must permeate all that we do here and now, in this time and place, and in this country." - Pauli Murray
From "The Dilemma of the Minority Christian" from "The Second Great Commandment" pg. 119 p.10
We are closing the year with gratitude and a deeper appreciation for the communities we represent and serve. Pauli Murray lived in times similar to ours when American democracy seemed to hang in the balance; when racial terror violence was a constant threat; when it was dangerous to exist as a member of the LGBTQ community; when women's rights were under attack; and when the political system failed to meet the needs of most. We take courage in this parallel because it means that we also have the ability to affect long-term change -- just like Pauli.
With this in mind, we celebrate the work we did this year:
- We celebrated our first full year of being open to the public which included over 100 tours with 800+ attendees.
- We activated our space with new faith and arts-based programs like our True Community Gatherings, Artist Work Day, and Pauli 101 series.
- We collaborated with local businesses and organizations to share Pauli's multi-faceted story while engaging new audiences.
- We premiered two episodes of Pauli Murray: the Animated Miniseries
- We completed construction plans for the development of our Welcome & Education Center in partnership with architecture firm Perkins & Will

- We were able to retain our Public Historian after federal funding cuts due to the generosity of our donors.
2025 has been a formidable yet rewarding year for us. We are proud of our growth that is thanks in no small part to our community. As demonstrated above, your support goes a long way toward fulfilling this next chapter of the Pauli Murray Center's mission. As we echo Pauli's calls for advocacy, community, and justice, we invite you to support our effort by making a donation.
We look forward to continuing this journey alongside community members like you!
