Celebrate the Center's 1st Anniversary with us!

One full year of tours, programs, and special events are on the books with much more to come!
We are celebrating the first anniversary of The Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice being open to the public! This journey has been much more than the culmination of 10+ years of preservation and restoration work. It has created space to examine the lessons we have learned from Pauli Murray as we face the present and the future with both resolve and the ‘song in a weary throat’ that is hope.
The world has changed significantly in one year. Here at the Center, we are acutely aware of strengthening waves of opposition to accurate and corroborated American history. These challenges are not new but they reinforce the importance of both the work and legacy of Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray.
Pauli said it best: “It had taken me almost a lifetime to discover that true emancipation lies in the acceptance of the whole past, deriving strength from all my roots, in facing up to the degradation as well as the dignity of my ancestors.”
Pauli Murray led a life that allowed for the confrontation of the past while working in service of a better future for ALL people. We will continue to do the same in collaboration with and in service of our community.
We invite you to join us in celebrating our first anniversary and amplifying Pauli’s legacy with us by:
- Making a gift to the Center
- Visiting our National Historic Site and exhibit
- Attending our First Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, September 6th
- Participating in the Every Body Moves benefit race hosted by our neighbors at The 360 Approach
We are grateful to continue this journey with you and look forward to sharing more soon!
